continuous improvement chez moi

Today Pieter helped me get the 3 cubic metres of 40mm River Pebbles in to make the path.

With great thanks to him, 18 months after I started digging we finally a have a path.

Almost complete, the weed mat will stay in for a few days until everything settles and I just need to edge around the bottom of the deck.

The Rainwater Tank is in!

The Rainwater Tank is in!

The New Rainwater Pit, about 2m cubed was overflowing after about 10mm of rain, so with another 60 falling later, imagine how much rainwater fell here. That photo was taken about 5 hours later. So it is obviously too small, especially considering it is supposed to be full of rubble, gravel and soil

The ‘Dig’ under the house was full of water about 5 hours ago. So much water came down in about 20 minutes, the new drainage pipe couldn’t handle it. I’ll have to extend the PVC down a bit further, methinks, at least temporarily.

The main culprit was the leaf guard which blocked the drainage grate and it overflowed. Didn’t realise until too late. Created loverly new channels through my just compressed roadbase :(

The overflowing water also uncovered the drain pipe, also I had to dig out again the trench I had dug previously and filed in two weeks ago to get the water away from the flood.

The Roadbase and Drainage is in. At this rate it’ll al be done by the time Sally gets grey hairs. Working on extending the Drainage Channel into the Garden now

And the chaos under the house. Lowering the floor by 40-45 cm to have around 2m. Also putting in a shower and a big rain water tank.
